What Is an Ijazah in Quran Teaching?
An Ijazah is a teacher’s authorization to teach the Quran, granted after reciting the Quran to a qualified teacher. It is linked through a documented chain of transmission of recitation. In short, it shows that a teacher did not only study the Quran, but learned to recite it directly from a qualified teacher.
Why an Ijazah Teacher Matters for Your Learning
- Accurate recitation: the teacher recites to you and listens to you, so correction is precise.
- Strong Tajweed foundation: rules are taught by someone trained to apply them in recitation. See our Tajweed classes.
- Trusted memorization (Hifz): a qualified teacher can guide memorization and revision. See our Hifz program.
- Confidence for parents and students: you know who is teaching and what they are qualified in.
