How Much Do Online Quran Lessons Cost in the UK?

The cost of online Quran lessons in the UK depends on the format, how many lessons you take each week and who teaches them, not on the fact that they are online. Group classes are usually the cheapest, one-to-one lessons cost more, and a tutor who visits your home usually costs the most. Our own monthly plans run from $16 to $42, and you can see exactly what each one includes on the pricing page.

What Changes the Price

  • One-to-one or group. A teacher who gives your child the whole lesson costs more than a teacher dividing attention between six children.
  • Lessons per week and lesson length. Two 30-minute lessons cost roughly double one. Compare the price per lesson, not the monthly figure.
  • The teacher’s training. Teachers with formal training or an ijazah usually charge more than informal tutors. You are paying for correct Tajweed and a teacher who knows how to teach.
  • What is included. Progress reports, a trial, make-up lessons and a named teacher all have a cost, even when it is hidden in the price.
  • How you pay. Monthly payment is easiest to leave if the lessons do not suit your child. Large prepayments for six or twelve months carry more risk.

Costs People Forget

  • A device and a stable internet connection, which most families already have.
  • A mushaf, and a quiet corner at home.
  • Your own time: sitting with younger children for the first minutes of the lesson.
  • For in-person options, petrol or fares and the evening spent travelling.

Red Flags to Watch For

  • A very low price with no trial lesson.
  • A request to pay many months in advance before your child has met the teacher.
  • No named teacher, or a different teacher every week.
  • Promises such as finishing the Quran in a fixed number of months.
  • No clear way to cancel or pause.

How to Keep the Cost Sensible

  1. Start with one lesson a week and review after six to eight weeks.
  2. Add a second lesson only if your child is keeping up with practice at home.
  3. Use school holidays for extra lessons instead of paying for more every week.
  4. Pick a time that is realistic, so you do not pay for cancelled lessons. Our after-school weekly plan can help.

Questions to Ask Before You Pay

  • What exactly is included each month, and what is the price per lesson?
  • Who will teach my child, and what is their training?
  • Is there a free trial, and does it have a time limit?
  • What happens if we miss a lesson or want to stop?
  • How will I see my child’s progress?

Frequently Asked Questions

Is online Quran learning cheaper than a private tutor at home?

Usually, because there is no travel time and the teacher can teach more students in a day. It is not always the case, so compare the price per lesson.

How much should I expect to pay for a child’s lessons?

It depends on the format and the number of lessons. Divide the monthly price by the number of lessons to compare fairly, and check what the price includes.

Is a free trial normal?

Yes. A reputable academy should let your child try lessons with a real teacher before you pay. We offer 2 free trial sessions.

Do you charge in pounds?

No. Prices are in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount when you pay, so ask whether it charges a foreign transaction fee.
